U.S. Military Mission visits Armenia in 1919

American Army Major General James G. Harbord, Head of a U.S. Military Mission to Turkey and Armenia, is greeted by welcoming committee upon the arrival of his train at a railroad yard in Armenia. He is seen conversing with two Armenian Apostolic Priests. They present him a document, which he views and then rolls up. Many other persons are present to greet the Harbord and members of his mission. Several wear the fez. A few U.S. soldiers are seen looking out the windows of the train. An Armenian officer steps forward to present a document to General Harbord.

The local populace and Armenian officials line a mountain road to greet members of the U.S. Military Mission to Turkey and Armenia, as they approach Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Mayor of the city, Mkrtich Mousinyants (Mkrtich Mussinyants) poses with military officers and other officials, as they are filmed by the Mission's cameraman. U.S. Major General James G. Harbord, Head of the Military Mission, and his staff, are seen walking along the mountain road, past spectators. (Some spectators stand on ramparts of Imposing old forts in the background.) Mayor Mousinyants, followed by military officers, walks up to meet Harbord and mission members. He converses with General Harbord. The scene changes to Harbord and staff in their car, driving along the mountain road, with spectators looking down from above. Several mounted cavalrymen carrying the Armenian and American flags escort General Harbord's car as it drives into Yerevan.
