Benito Mussolini arrives in a German Junkers Ju-52 aircraft, at an airport serving Adolf Hitler's Eastern Front headquarters (Wolf's Lair) near Rastenburg, Poland, a month after being rescued by German commandos from imprisonment in the Campo Imperatore Hotel, high in the Italian Apennine Mountains, during World War 2. He is warmly greeted by Adolf Hitler (who personally ordered the rescue mission). Mussolini's son, Vittorio, also greets him. Hitler escorts Mussolini to a staff car bearing both the Italian and German (Swastika) flags. The car arrives at the Wolf's Lair, and German Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop greets Mussolini as he steps from the car. Hitler escorts Mussolini into the building. A Steam locomotive pulls a passenger train into station. The Bulgarian regent Prince Kiril steps from the train and greets Hitler. The second regent, Professor Bogdan Filov, gets off the train and shakes hands with Hitler, Generals on Hitler's staff, including Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel, and German Foreign Minister Joachim Von Ribbentrop. Hitler escorts Prince Kril to a waiting car. Brief glimpse of the Bulgarian flag mounted on side of the car. Next, Hitler escorts Prince Kril from the car into a building at the Wolf's Lair. Among the victims he visits are: Major General Walter Scherff; Navy Captain Heinz Assmann; Rear Admiral Karl-Jesco von Puttkamer; and General Walther Buhle. Hitler is seen with a small bandage in his right ear due to a ruptured ear drum from the explosion. He takes time and speaks with each of the wounded officers. As he leaves, women nurses, assembled outside, render Nazi salutes, and cheer him. Change of scene shows Hitler, at the Wolf's Lair compound, near Rastenburg, East Prussia (now Poland). He greets Walther Funk, Reich Minister for Economic Affairs; a local Gauleiter; Reich Minister Albert Speer; a Dr. Sauer; and Reich Minister Hans Heinrich Lammers, President of the Reich Cabinet.
