Plaques are made from used weapons in Chicago, Illinois. Men look at a heap of used pistols, revolvers and other weapons of former gunmen. Coroner F. J. Walsh throws them in a special furnace using a shovel. These are melted. The molten metal is poured in molds to make plaques for public heroes. An officer presents a plaque which reads "Public Hero No.1 Award for Heroism and Valor" to another officer.
