They melt iron for casting. They prepare molds and undergo heating and cooling work. Grinders and automatic lathes at work. A worker operates automatic machinery which compresses molten metal for railroad parts, including a large compressor forming the driving rod for a locomotive. Finally the locomotive is painted. A completed T1 locomotive, designed by Raymond Loewy, is sent to the locomotive test plant where it undergoes a test run on the dyno. Experts watch movement of the train. Instruments record the vital data for the engineers.
