The final scenes show Japanese baseball players warming up before a game. Then baseball players march onto a ball field accompanied by a brass band playing in formation on the field. View of baseball stadium filled with fans as a game is in progress. A batter hits the ball and safely reaches a base, with a hit.
In opening scene prior to World War 2, camera pans across a building complex that might be a resort hotel. Scene shifts to hundreds of bathers on shallow water at a beach. Life guards occupy a structure in the shallows. Families with small children fill the shoreline and shallow water. some of the small children use flotation devices. Actual swimmers are seen farther out in deeper water. Closeup of three small children playing with a pot as they sit in a protected area that seems to be surrounded by seaweed or other vegetation. A boy behind them works to build the surrounding wall. Change of scene shows another area of beach with a long pier extending out into the water. The shore is completely hidden by families seated on the beach under huge umbrellas and tents. The next scene is of a downtown commercial district festooned with numerous banners overlooking the street. There are no vehicles evident. The entire area is filled with pedestrians. At another section of the town, the street is more densly crowded with pedestrians.
Japanese patrons, including five young women in traditional dress, line up to purchase tickets at a theater in Japan. A businessman and a woman walk past on the sidewalk. Scene shifts to a Japanese film with actors in traditional dress perform stylized combat with swords. Next, women in traditional dress perform onstage in a ritualistic dance employing fans. In sharp contrast, women in modern military costumes onstage perform precision dance moves in a follies style and a man dances with chorus girls in western style jazz stage show. Scene ends with theater curtain descending as the dancers are still performing.
