McCall & Company, Stocks and Bonds, with offices at New York, Buffalo, Chicago & St. Louis." A number of the company's clients sit in chairs and watch as the latest stock prices are posted on display boards. Men are shown on the telephone communicating stock orders to their brokers. Hectic activity is seen on the New York Stock Exchange with floods of orders to buy and sell shares. Stock exchange number boards lit up with numbers. Men are seen in various places hovering over stock exchange ticker tapes running fast out of ticker tape machines. Scene of fireworks in the sky at the end (alluding to collapse of the stock market and the "Crash" on Wall Street that precipitated the Great Depression).
A legless beggar with a sign around his neck that reads 'Help the Blind', hobbles along a crowded city sidewalk. A legless child hobbles beside him. People walk past the blind beggar and drop coins into his hat. A man drops a coin that misses the hat, and the beggar reaches for it. A policeman collars him as he picks it up. The impostor wriggles out of his coat and escapes the policeman. (Edison Company, 1897)
Opening scene shows view from a siding, of an empty railroad track in the countryside. Suddenly a steam locomotive of the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe railroad appears on the main track, heading toward the camera. It is pulling a number of passenger cars, and passes the camera, at high speed.
A warship is launched, as men watch from small boats nearby. As the warship comes down the ways, it sets up a wave that jostles the small boats. Men from one boat jump into the river, fully clothed. (Edison Company, 1898)
A man work chopping wood in a yard near a street in residential neighborhood. Another man arrives with a basket in hand. A woman thanks the man chopping wood. Two other men arrive and start a fight . All the men engage in the fight. The woman returns with children and dogs who scamper about. The woman tries to break up the fight by striking the participants with a piece of wood. (Edison Company, 1898)
A large group of French women stand on a pier, waving American flags, as a troop ship arrives at a port in France, during World War 1. American Expeditionary Forces (AEF), soldiers of the U.S.1st Infantry Division, crowd her deck. The troops are seen leaving the ship by gangplank, and crowding the pier. They then assemble and march off. They proceed through dense crowds on both sides of their line of march. U.S. troops marching along a French city street are approached by French women expressing their appreciation. A French policeman walks with a bicycle, alongside the troops. French policemen march along, behind the Americans. Scene shifts to American soldiers playing musical instruments as others dance with women at an outdoor waterfront cafe, as they wait for transport. Allied officers are seen standing in front of a collection of canvas covered shelters, with a sign above, reading: "Camp Franco-Americain."
