With entry of Chinese forces into the conflict, in November, 1950, the U.S. 3rd Infantry troops assume defensive positions in the Hamhung area of North Korea. forces to facilitate evacuation of other X-Corps units by landing craft to waiting transport ships. One landing craft seen has the number APA 98-3 on its side, indicating it originally belonged to the troop transport, USS Dutchess, APA-98 ( which was decommisioned and sold, in 1948).
