Speaking after the assassination of Martin Luther King, Walter Edward Fauntroy pastor of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Washington, D.C makes an appeal for mourners to honor him in silence and in the spirit of non-violence. He appeals to people to remain in their homes and to pray for a spreading of the spirit of this great man. He adds that those who respond violently in their grief, do Dr. King and his memory, dishonor. Next, a front loader is seen clearing smoking debris from riots, looting, and destruction that occurred in major cities of the U.S. during protests after the death of Martin Luther King, Jr. A fire truck on a city street sprays water on a burning building. Singing of a medley of "We Shall Not be Moved" and a "Freedom Now" song by the New York Freedom Singers, a group of the SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee), including Bernice Johnson, Cordell Reagon, Rutha Harris, and Chales Neblett. An infant inside the house looks out the window at them. Scene shifts to Los Angeles where another English-American visiting pair is seated outdoors and the wife of the American brings out some bottles of beer for them to all share. Change of scene shows the pair visiting the offices of the Screen Actors Guild in Hollywood, where they meet celebrities Edward Arnold, George Murphy, Dick Powell, Alan Hale, Jane Wyman, Helen Hayes and Lena Horne. Edward Arnold, President of the Guild's Board, speaks with the pair, alone explaining how every actor in Hollywood belongs to the Guild which is affiliated with the America Federation of Labor (AFL).
