Women standing with bouquets wave at the GIs. The GIs disembark from the ship and are greeted by their families and wives. A convoy of trucks loaded with GIs pass through the streets of the city. The citizens of Seattle standing on both the sides of the road welcome the GIs. People welcome them by giving them flowers.
President Harry S. Truman asks for a strict curb on inflation in Washington. In a speech Truman says that Communists have been hoping for collapse of American economy, hence an anti-inflation law plays a part in the fight for peace.
Partially disabled amputees of World War II meet U.S. President Truman in Washington. A World War II veteran who has both his legs amputated walks in front of President Harry S. Truman with the help of prosthesis artificial limbs. Another veteran with amputated hands lights a cigarette. Both of them shake hands with Truman.
Three soldiers who fought in the Korean war receive the Congressional Medal of Honor in Washington DC. U.S. President Truman decorates the soldiers. People watch the soldiers and applaud. Cameramen record the event.
Football game between Cleveland Browns and Chicago Cardinals in Chicago. A large crowd gathers to watch the game. Cleveland's Bobby Joe Conrad kicks off the length of the field, where Chicago's Leroy Bolden receives it and runs the entire length of the field for a touchdown. Several other plays are seen. Crowd cheers and applaud. The Cleveland Browns win the game at Soldier Field by 38-24.
Children assemble for a program of Season's Greeting to the nation in Washington DC. They stand on the stage and give Christmas and New Year's greeting to the nation on the microphone. Other people watch. They sing a Christmas song.
