The start of the 1931 Ford Commercial Airplane Reliability Tour at the Ford Airport in Dearborn, Michigan, on Sunday July 4th 1931. Opening footage at forefront right shows the Gee Bee model E Sportster flown by Lowell Bayles to a fourth place finish. Forefront center-left is the Great Lakes biplane flown by Joeseph Meehan. The first German Post office mail rocket is successfully tested at Dummersee, Germany, on April 15,1931.

Successful test of the first German Post office mail rocket at Dummersee, Germany, on April 15,1931. It carries 180 pieces of mail (postcards). Reinhold Tiling is seen with his mechanic, Friedrich Kuhr, who holds the rocket, as Tiling inserts a cylinder containing compressed powder fuel. They then invert the rocket and Tiling affixes its nose cone. A post office official hands pieces of mail to Tiling, who places them into the rocket. They position the rocket on its launch stand and fire it. Uniformed Postal officials (and some military officers) watch the rocket as it rises smoothly after launch. Larger, better, and lighter metal (aluminum) are developed in 1931-32. Friedrich Kuhr standing next to a huge rocket with a wing span of 4 meters.

Change of scene shows Japanese diplomat Yosuke Matsuoka addressing a League of Nations meeting in 1933, after that body adopted a report blaming Japan for events in Manchuria. Scene shifts to Japanese forces firing artillery and machine guns in Manchuria.They wave large Japanese flag victoriously after a battle. The next scene shows Italian forces occupying Ethiopia and raising the flag of the Kingdom of Italy, as Italian troops salute, presenting arms of rifles with fixed bayonets. Axis leaders celebrate the 1940 Tripartite Pact between German, Italy and Japan. The festivities take place in a hall displaying the three nation's flags on the walls. Ellsworth Vines defeats George Lott in National Title tennis match at Forest Hills, New York.

Nineteen year old, Henry Ellsworth Vines, of Pasadena California and opponent George Lott, Jr., of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, battle for 1931 National Tennis Championship at Forest Hills, New York on September 12, 1931, in the 51st U.S. Men's Singles Tennis championship match. They are seen entering the stadium before a capacity crowd, and shaking hands before the match. Views of several strokes and exchanges during the match. At the end, both players meet at the net,shake hands, and walk off the court together. Vines beats Lott (79 63 97 75). Vines poses with trophy.
