The U.S. Army Air Service Fokker C-2A named "Question Mark" being refueled in midair from a Douglas C-1, in 1929.

Mid air refueling experiments in January, 1929. A U.S. Army Air Service Douglas C-1 tanker plane, with hose trailing below it, flies above a modified Atlantic-Fokker C-2A named "Question Mark." The hose is let down to the Question Mark, where a crew member seizes it and makes a connection for fuel transfer. After transfer of fuel is complete, the crew member throws the fuel line off and it is retrieved by the tanker plane. The Question Mark lands at Metropolitan Airport, Van Nuys, California on January 7, 1929, and taxiis in to park. The crew members, including Major Carl A. Spaatz, Captain Ira C. Eaker, Lieutenant Harry A. Halverson, Lieutenant Elwood R.(Pete) Quesada, and Staff Sergeant Roy W. Hooe, all exit the airplane and gather under the wing with well wishers. The five crew members pose for photographs beside their airplane, the "Question Mark." Ground crew tows the aircraft with a tractor.

Chinese airmen board a U.S. troop carrier aircraft at Austin, Texas

United States and Chinese airmen at Bergstrom Field, Austin, Texas July 1946. The Neo-Classical building is the Texas State Capital at Austin, Texas and Austin Texas is noted on the graduate’s diploma “Bergstrom Field, Austin, Texas”. At this time the 349th Troop Carrier Group was based at Bergstrom and assigned to the Third Air Force, Tactical Air Command as noted on the diploma. Also “Air Force Combat Units of World War II” Edited by Maurer Maurer states this unit trained Chinese crews to operate C-46 aircraft. Film is very interesting in that it visually shows the transition from “Army brown to Air Force Blue” for the C-46s still carry the I TROOP CARRIER COMMAND insigne on the nose, with was disbanded on 4 Nov 1945 but they have the new AAF wide "Buzz Numbers" for all aircraft operating solely within the continental USA, by T.O. 07-1-1 of November 1945 and the graduate’s diploma is notating the new post-war air force type command reorganization of March 1946.

Good times depicted in America during the so-called "Roaring Twenties." Automobile workers on a production line or assembly line. Double-decker buses and taxi cabs fill street in New York City. President Calvin Coolidge, accompanied by his dog, quietly fishing from a canoe. Girls in swim suits dancing around a Tuba player at a beach. Young women dancing happily at a cabaret, nightclub, or club. Behind them on stage is Texas Guinan (actress and speakeasy club manager). President Coolidge casting his fishing line, with another person seen in the rear of the canoe. View of couple's feet as they dance the Charleston in a cabaret. Girls,in bathing suits at a beach, run, like a chorus line, at the camera. Next are shown more mundane aspects of the period and some scenes of poor life, poverty, and unemployment shortly before the onset of the Great Depression. A city back street early in the morning. A man washes his face with water from a horse trough. A Milkman steps from his horse-drawn wagon or carriage to deliver two bottles of milk. People buying slabs of ice from an ice house (for their ice boxes at home). Boy and girl stand on slum or tenement fire escape. Laundry drying on clothes lines stretched across tenement alley. Two children in a family lying in a single bed. Other beds in the same crowded tenement apartment. Union-sponsored housing (founded in 1927) in the lower east side of Manhattan with sign affixed reading: "Amalgamated Cooperative Dwellings, 504-520 Grand Street. 83-91 Broome Street." Views of the Cooperative low rent apartment buildings.
