Spanish and Italian falangists and nationalists during a Spanish Day parade in Tangier, Morocco
Tangier Morocco Date:1938, May 29 Duration:1 min 13 sec Sound:NO SOUND
Italian and Spanish officials gathered on the athletic field of the Italian School in Tangier, Morocco. In celebration by Italy of "Spanish Day", and of the Patron Saint Ferdinand by the nationalist Spaniards, an assembly is held. School boys march, some in a uniform of white short sleeve shirts and dark shorts; others in an all blue paramilitary uniform. Some of the boys carry rifles or drums. The students stand at attention with hands waved in a nazi-like salute while the Italian Minister and Dr. Avierno inspect. Then the boys march by the dignitaries. Festive streamer flags and flags of several nations wave. An audience of citizens is in the background in a grandstand. On behalf of Franco, Dr. Avierno is present and addresses those gathered. The other primary dignitary with him is the Italian Minister, in military uniform. He is joined by an honor guard of Italian Navy sailors. Palm trees visible behind Avierno speaking.
