Improvement in housing facilities in post war era in the United States, using building materials and techniques developed during the war effort. Men and women in a testing lab as they conduct research for construction of better houses. Various housing material like plywood, shatter proof bricks, roofing material being put to test and analyzed by men and women standing at various machines. Plexiglass gun turrets from World War 2 shown during fabrication in a war materials plant, but then shown in a home bathroom being used for a shower surround and as base for a seating chair. A woman sits in front of the vanity mirror in her pre-fabricated house. Views of several different modern prefabricated houses in large and smaller sizes. Various parts of a pre fabricated houses being made and assembled. A man arrives home from work and greets his family with wife and two children outside a prefabricated suburban house. Sheep graze at a farm with a prefabricated farm house in the background. A modified quonset hut barn is shown. Cattle are seen inside the quonset hut barn house, and a calf is shown being placed in a mobile stall cage that can moved on wheels to save space. Another type of house includes pre assembled mass produced houses. A woman relaxes on a lawn outside such a house. Interiors of a pre fabricated house with all types of labor saving devices. Housewife or homemaker works in the kitchen of such a house. She opens a lid in the counter top to reveal a sink. She opens a waffle iron that has been integrated into a counter or oven, that also features food storage bins and a toaster. She sets a chicken to roast on a rotisserie. Views of models of many new, futuristic, modern home designs, and also planned community housing projects. A construction site with a steam shovel digging dirt. Ground level view as bucket of steam shovel filled with dirt approaches camera. Bricks being unloaded from a dump truck.
