Serbia Date:1918 Duration:1 min 11 sec Sound:NO SOUND
Allied forces bivouacked in a dry stream bed in Serbian mountains, during World War 1. (A foraging mountain goat on rock above ignores them.) Scene change shows French officers, in fortified position, looking through hand-held binoculars and tripod-mounted periscopic binoculars. A British soldier, in another fortified spot, looks through a telescope. Views of shells bursting in the hilly terrain. French gun crew firing a 75mm field piece from a position hidden in foliage. A mix of Central Powers prisoners in a compound, including, Austrian-Hungarians, Turkish, and possibly Bulgarian and other nationalities. They eat from mess kits. Most are seated on the ground. Several relaxed French officers stand in the compound. A cook circulates amongst the seated prisoners.
