A training film about the dangers posed by avalanches and the methods to control them in Alta, Utah. An airborne avalanche occurs as snow moves down a dam slide. Some of the snow whirls up with the wind while the rest falls on the ground. Snow moves down as a snow cloud is formed along the slope of Mount Superior. Means of forecasting avalanches include a dropping barometer and a wind wane indicating direction of wind blow. Snow blows from the slope of one mountain to another. A gust thermometer to measure velocity variation of wind. A graph indicates wind speed in miles per hour.
