Smoke rises from the Dutch submarine, O-19, as she is struck by gunfire from deck gun of the USS Cod (SS-224), during actions to scuttle her following rescue of her crew from Ladd Reef, Spratly Islands, South China Sea, where she ran aground during final days of World War 2. A huge explosion occurs as a torpedo from the USS Cod strikes the reef and the O-19. Smoke rising from the O-19.
