Opening scene shows Navy TBF Avenger in slow flight with nose-high attitude, flying so close to the water that it is kicking up spray in its wake. Next, the aircraft passes an Iowa class battleship, also in camouflage paint. Next, it passes an Essex class carrier (CV) that has an aircraft taking off from its forward deck. The TBF catches up to another Iowa class battleship, and passes between the camera ship and the battleship, climbing slightly, but still very low over the water. A Portland class cruiser is seen in the background. The TBF begins to climb as it overtakes a Fletcher class destroyer in catapult configuration.
