Massed flags of participating Soviet republics and other nations are carried in a parade. Pigeons are released as in Olympic openings. Some participants appear to be from Sudan. Behind them in the background a stadium clock displays a sign in Cyrillic reading "МИР," (the World). Women participants dance. Some Asian women dance with fans. Band members massed on the field create a "wave" with a large net over their heads.
