Hospital Ship, Atlantis, carrying exchange wounded Allied Prisoners of War back to England In World War II

In the first exchange of Allied and Axis wounded prisoners of war, the British Hospital Ship, Atlantis, with number 33 painted on her side, steams into port, at Leith, Scotland, (and then on to Liverpool, England) during World War 2. She is returning Allied wounded from Germany, by way of Goeteborg, Sweden. British soldiers are carried off ship on stretchers. Several ambulatory American soldiers leave ship on foot. Railroad train seen right at the port.

B-17 bomber crews of U.S. 8th Air Force are briefed before their mission

American air crews attend a briefing session in England during World War II. The mission briefer points out their target as the German port of Willhelmshaven. He also points to the positions of B-17s in the mission formation. Among them is seen Captain Morgan's name (pilot of the "Memphis Belle") as one of the flight leaders. Ground crew loads bombs into a B-17. Pilot, Captain Robert K.Morgan and his crew, arrive by jeep and jump off in front of their aircraft, the "Memphis Belle." at an airfield in England during World War II. Captain Morgan gives final briefing to the crew as they stand in front of their aircraft. He and his crew then climb aboard, take up their positions and start engines.
