King George V and Queen Mary at the Coronation Durbar arena in Delhi, India, in 1911. They are seen under the royal canopy, surrounded by troops wearing White helmets, white gloves, and white puttees. Complete change of scene shows women on horse-drawn floats in a suffrage movement parade on 42nd street, East of 5th Avenue in New York City, circa 1912. A woman dressed as Columbia stands in the first float, wearing a banner with word "Suffrage" on it and some men supporters march in the parade. Crowds watch from the sidewalks. Uniformed policemen escort the marchers. Several women suffragists (sometimes referred to as suffragettes) ride in a second float, wearing various costumes, including those of 17th Century pilgrims and of the 18th Century revolutionary war era. The float displays an American flag and some other type, as well. An automobile festooned with flowers, follows behind. The final scene shifts to London, England, circa 1905, and shows women's suffrage leader, Emmeline Pankhurst, carrying a bouquet of flowers, as she is escorted by a gentleman, out of a professional office building. One sign on the building reads, "Goodale, Hobson, & MacHahon. (This refers to William Goodale, Alfred Allen Hobson, and Patrick Maurice MacMahon, Solicitors, 9, Essex Street, Strand London, England. That firm dissolved in 1907.)

Two new immigrant man are seen on bunks in a tenement in New York City, where the narrator says nine out of ten immigrants arrived in the period from 1880 to 1914. Two women pose, sitting beside a sleeping child in a tenement. An immigrant speaks about the hardship of arriving in a strange land where he did not speak the language and felt "lost." He says he gradually overcame that by going to night school to learn a little English and to read and write. He says he made a nice living as a peddler, and expressed appreciation for the opportunities America gave to immigrants. In the next scene, children enjoy rides on a traveling merry-go-round visiting their neighborhood. The operator runs it manually, by turning a wheel. Closeup scenes show Wilbur H. Durborough-America's famous press photographer, seated behind the steering wheel of a 1911 Alto touring car parked on a street in Chicago, Illinois, getting ready to depart for Germany, during World War 1. Sitting behind him is his assistant cameraman, Irving G. Ries. Both have goggles pushed back on their foreheads. and both smoke cigars. Some spare tires are seen behind Mr. Ries. As camera moves back, they are seen surrounded by numerous friends and well-wishers as they prepare to depart from Chicago. Next, Durborough is seen standing on the bridge of the Holland-America steamship, S.S. Nieuw Amsterdam, with ship's Captain Jan Baron, who is on lookout for mines and submarines. Captain Baron passes his binoculars to Mr. Durborough. Captain Baron and Mr. Durborough stand on the deck looking at some documents. Lifeboats on davits behind them are ready for emergency. Durborough drives his car from the ship terminal onto a street in Rotterdam, with Captain Baron standing on a running board. The car is loaded down with luggage and equipment. He drives away as the Captain and others wave goodbye. Displaying an American flag on the hood, Durborough arrives at the German border. Dutch officials examine the car's contents, including a look into the engine compartment. Next, Durborough is stopped by German border guards, who examine his passport and greet him in a friendly manner. Durborough is seen in the offices of U.S.Ambassador James W.Gerard, as he describes his plans for visiting. He is honored by a visit from Prince of Reuss of German General Staff, Prince Max of Baden and Count Von Bernstorff- son of German Ambassador to the United States, who are seen chatting with him, before entering their car to depart.
Repository officials and staff brief the press in United States
Two American officials brief the press as a number of original manuscript files are displayed, with "Joulia" and the year 1911 written on them. Others display the year 1913. Journalists take down notes. The officials also display copies of newspaper articles which include a political cartoon above an article entitled "Entre Policiers." Another article is headlined " ENORME." A man breaks the seal of a wooden box labeled "HWL" number 5, as the two officials along with a girl stand next to him. They take out some files from the box and look at them. One of the official looks at some photographs, including one that appears to be of an individual involved with the manuscripts (perhaps the author)..The setting appears to be a university or archive.
