Film begins showing a sign on a wooden barn, reading: "Barn Dance Tonight." Country music is heard. View inside the barn shows a fiddler playing, along with musicians playing guitar, banjo, and piano. Couples dance to the music. Closeups of the musicians. Closeups of dancers. Closeups of spectators feet moving to the rythms. A girl eating an ice cream cone while seated watching the dancers. Scenic views of the countryside in Autumn. Farmers loading tobacco from barns into trucks that are seen moving on highways, to market. A sign in a cornfield reads: "Danville, VA. World's Best Tobacco Market." View of downtown Danville, busy because it is auction time. Sign at a newspaper office reads: "The Bee, Founded 1899." Inside the shop, a printer reads a new edition of the paper with headline about "Opening Tobacco Sales." Open stake truck carries load of tobacco into Holland's Auction warehouse. Glimpse of auctioneer taking bids. Farmer takes a "lot" of tobacco in a wheelbarrow for weighing. Buyers gathered around a table, examine tobacco and bid as auctioneer chants. Farmers collect proceeds of their sales from cashier at the auction house. Views of farmers and families in the business district of Danville. Men fill a barbershop and converse, while waiting for haircuts. Next, the film shows folks enjoying themselves at a "County Fair." Tents and amusement rides dominate the fair grounds. Various pieces of farm equipment are on display and looked over by farmers. Prize live stock is exhibited by some farmers. Samples of eggs are examined by judges.Other camples of vegetables and such are judged. Tobacco samples are also judged for quality. A judge places a blue ribbon on the winning tobacco sample. At a large display of competing tobacco lots, the blue ribbon winner discusses his product with other farmers. Scene shifts to growing season, showing tobaccco farmers working in their fields.
