Nearly 75,000 New Yorkers throng Broadway to watch French President Vincent Auriol’s welcome parade towards the City Hall (City Hall Park, New York, NY 10007, United States). Parade of soldiers carrying flags of United States and playing drums, march on lower Broadway. At the New York City Hall, Mayor Vincent Richard Impellitteri confers a Distinguished Service scroll on the French president. Impellitteri is awarded the French Legion of Honor by President Auriol. Photographers take pictures of the ceremony. The French president and the Mayor Impellitteri along with other officials come out in the gallery of the hall and shake hands as soldiers parade down the street and crowds cheer them on.
General Omar Bradley presents the Medal of Honor, posthumously, to families of four soldiers who lost their lives in the Korean War to save those of their fellow soldiers. At a ceremony at the Pentagon, in Arlington, Virginia, General Bradley presents the medals to family members of Sergeant William Jecelin, Corporal Gordon Craig, Corporal Mitchell Red Cloud Jr., and Private Joseph Ouellette, for heroism above and beyond the call of duty.

Soldiers practice firing with machine guns as bullets whistle over their heads. The newest military unit prepares to serve United Nations.
A big haul of turtles is brought onshore in Florida in United States. Turtles are taken off from the boat as they are taken away on their backs to the cannery. A kid sits onto a turtle's back whereas another turtle moves close to a tin of turtle food.
Newsreel titled Big Top - Celebrities join in heart fund benefit. Mrs. Impelliteri, chairman, heads the fund raiser show at Madison Square Garden in New York. Various stage and radio artists and sports persons like Lauritz Melchior, Jerome Collins, Jack Dempsey, Weary Willie clown Emmett Kelly and Dorothy Kilgallen lend their talents to raise funds for the heart foundation. Artists dressed as clowns entertain the audiences. Female artists sitting on elephant back perform acrobatics. Jimmy Durante laughs at an act. Celeste Holm rides on an elephant Male artists perform acrobatics as they hang from swings. The show raises a total of 190 thousand dollars for the heart fund.
