(Referring to a weekly Catholic publication in comic book format). Crowd of Italians clapping and cheering. Cameraman uses a motion picture camera from a raised platform. Tabbacheria (tobacco shop) is on one side of the courtyard. Sign reads Cinzano (referring to an Italian brand of vermouth). Camera pans up to the balcony and then back down to the courtyard, again. where people are waving their hands and holding white handkerchiefs. Some hold small children up above their heads. Closeup of a woman holding up a baby. after brief interruption, flags are shown flying from balcony on one side of the courtyard. Boys in choir gowns clap their hands. Spartakiada, a Soviet Union festival of sports held on the opening of the VI Lenin Stadium (Luzhniki Stadium) in Moscow on 31 July, 1956. Participating athletes from all over the Soviet Union as well as other countries, are seen parading in the opening ceremonies. Almost all carry flags and banners. Some accompany decorated floats. Massed flags of participating Soviet republics and other nations are carried in a parade. Pigeons are released as in Olympic openings. Some participants appear to be from Sudan. Behind them in the background a stadium clock displays a sign in Cyrillic reading "МИР," (the World). Women participants dance. Some Asian women dance with fans. Band members massed on the field create a "wave" with a large net over their heads.

Opening scene shows Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, conversing with an official dressed in white overalls, at Lasham Airfield (Lasham, Alton GU34 5SP, United Kingdom) in Hampshire, England. Numerous spectators are at the field and uniformed boy scouts maintain a cordon to keep them away from the airstrip and aircraft. Prince Philip is assisted as he straps into a Slingsby Type 42 Eagle. Next, the glider is seen being towed along the airstrip by a line from a tow plane (not seen). Scene shifts to aerial view from a glider high aloft over the English countryside. View of the glider with Prince Philip as it passes overhead and then, as it passes over the airfield, where numerous gliders are seen parked in the foreground. Film ends as Prince Philip is maneuvering the glider over the runway for landing.

United States Army four-star General Courtney H. Hodges meets Russian General Jardov at Russian headquarters in Torgau, Germany, soon after the meeting of the two allied forces of the Soviets and Americans during their advance into Germany in World War 2. The two generals talk through an interpreter. After the meeting, the Generals come out and salute. Photographers stand on the hood of a jeep to take pictures.

German Field Marshal Paul Ludwig Ewald von Kleist carrying a baton comes out from a building, talks briefly with U.S. Army Major General Willard S. Paul, and gets into an American half ton truck in Mitterfels,Germany, one day after his capture by American forces. The truck, with Major General Paul in the back seat, is driven away. It stops and Field Marshal von Kleist salutes Generalleutnant Josef Russwurm, Inspector of Army Signals Troops, who was also captured by the U.S. Army 26th Infantry Division. Rußwurm seen beside the truck. The truck drives away again. (World War II period)
