Cotton Carnival in Memphis. A series of parties staged at Carnival. Current year's selected King, Queen and Royal Court of carnival. Presentations and parade by all cotton producing states. Decorated floats go by in a night time parade as crowd cheers. Floats have elaborate artwork and kings and queens. Flags of cotton producing states seen on many floats, including Georgia 1956 flag incorporating the Confederate battle flag on the Georgia float.
Fashionable New York housewives wearing designer cocktail dresses at home. Two women having tea outdoors. A woman in rose printed dress prepares supper. A housewife wearing a pearl necklace and a Bill Blass chiffon cocktail dress. The woman prepares cocktails in the kitchen as, narrator says, she awaits the arrival of the man of the house. Another woman wears a red chiffon dress with marabou stole while showing a bottle of champagne.
Stone Lifting (Harri jasotzea) Championship in Tolosa, Basque country. An stone worker lifts a 500 pound stone on his back during weightlifting competition. Second athlete lifts a square shaped stone in his arms. Another one hauls a cylindrical stone of 250 pounds. Stone worker lifts and moves a 200 pound sphere stone around his head. Crowd cheers and claps.
Men participate in the Mr. Ontario body builder show in Toronto, Canada. Crowd watches and judges discuss as participant body builders show off their muscles. Ken Togara of Toronto wins one of the awards. A young boy imitates the men and attempts to flex muscles. The 'Mr Ontario' title goes to 23 year old Jerry Richards of New Brunswick. Richards holds the trophy.
A train arrives at the railroad station in Germany. Chancellor Konrad Adenauer looks out of the train during his whistle stop train tour for West German elections. He disembarks the train and shakes hands with VIPs. Crowd claps and listens to the Chancellor Konrad Adenauer as he speaks at the microphone.
Demonstration of two new British guided missiles during the Cold War. The first is designed for anti-tank warfare. New British anti-tank missile is fired and its accuracy is proven as it goes through a small opening in a target cloth. Men at the controls. Next is seen a demonstration of Britain's new self-guided Thunderbird Missile, with 4 rocket boosters, used to attack other incoming missiles. Military personnel prepare and fire the missile during a demonstration.
