60,000 attendees, including many veterans of World War I, march to the Tannenberg battlefield for the dedication of the Tannenberg Monument. Tannenberg Monument dedication ceremony commemorates the German victory over Russian forces in August, 1914, and fallen German soldiers during World War I. German Field Marshal Paul Von Hindenburg, who officiates at the ceremony, also celebrates his 80th birthday.
Army Service Corps soldiers play games during military tournaments in Woolwich. The tournament is held to raise funds for Blue and Red Cross in World War I. In one game ( "horse and rider") a man, carried on shoulders of his teammate, tries to unseat an opponent carried by another. Both "rider" opponents use poles padded with boxing gloves. French sailors scramble to battle stations at stern of a French destroyer during World War 1. Wake indicates the ship has executed a sharp turn to port. Loaded depth charge launchers seen on the deck. Scene change to ship's company posing for photograph in winter dress uniforms, on occasion of medal awards. The ship's captain (Corvette Captain equivalent to Lieutenant Commander) is wearing two medals and holds a presentation case in his hand, containing a military cross decoration. Standing beside him are an ensign first class (Sublieutenant) and another officer, both wearing such medals. Scene shifts to the ship underway with officers on the bridge.
