The fueling of USS Saratoga (CV-3) from a tanker a day after a Kamikaze attack on the aircraft carrier. Dr. Edgar Maurice Cortright, United States Navy Lieutenant, narrates his experience on board the USS Saratoga at the time of its bombing by Kamikaze planes during the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II. A sack is passed to the tanker support using a breeches buoy. The fuel lines are hauled across the USS Saratoga and the tanker ship. Men working on the decks of the USS Saratoga and tanker. The tanker fuels a destroyer at the same time. One of the three tankers accompanying the USS Saratoga is the USS Bismarck Sea (CVE- 95). Crewmen from the USS Saratoga watch as the tanker fuels both the aircraft carrier and the destroyer. Crewmen and tanks on deck as the destroyer bounces up and down. Mail is being transferred from the destroyer to the aircraft carrier. Dr. Cortright talks about the importance of receiving mail from loved ones and the work of volunteers who deliver mail to them.

Marines silhouetted against bright sky, while standing inside a Landing Ship Tank (LST) as the front ramp is lowered. An M4A3 Sherman medium tank, equipped with raised exhaust and air intakes (a wading tank), is exiting the ship. Scene shifts to views from onshore, of Landing Ships Tank (LSTs) 477 and 808, beached, on the sand. A Landing Craft Tank (LCT-1243) is on the deck of LST 808. Several M4A3 wading tanks of the 3rd Marine Tank Battalion are seen leaving LST 477. Exhaust fumes are visible from their raised ducts. Third Marine Division infantry, on the deck of LST 477, watch the tanks offloading. (Note, regarding the date. Accordng to the Navy Department Library, the 3rd Marine Division joined the Iwo Jima fighting on the fifth day of the battle. So the unloading operations, from LSTs, 477 and 808, seen in this film, could be taking place on D+5.)
