A group of scientists aboard an aircraft performs secret research about atomic bomb explosions. The scientists put on gas masks and goggles for eye protection, and work with analysis and measurement equipment aboard the airplane. An atomic bomb explosion is seen below and the plane passes above near the atomic mushroom as volunteers test their eye protection. On the ground, cameras in the blast wave record damage incurred to parked airplanes on the ground by the force of the explosion blast wave. An airplane tail section burns while it traverses the explosion cloud. A giant Boeing B-50 Superfortress bomber codenamed Rosebud is seen on an atomic bombing run in an actual atomic test. The pilot and bombardier are shown in the plane, the target sight is seen on the ground, and the atomic blast is seen from the B-50 flying overhead. Massive explosion and mushroom cloud seen forming. The atomic cloud rises up in sky.
General George S Patton Junior and Lieutenant General Jimmy Doolittle of the United States Army return to United States after World War II. A huge crowd cheers for the Generals as their parade procession marches on roads in Los Angeles, California. A crowd of around 2,000,000 cheer the Generals who lead the war and defeated Nazi Germany. Generals from their cars raise their hats towards the crowd. General Doolittle addresses the press reporters. He insists the home team to assure supplies so that field team finishes the war effectively.
Tornadoes kill 47 and injure many causing $1,000,000 property damage in Alabama and Mississippi, United States. Damaged houses and rubble and debris in cities. People and military troops at relief work. Box cars damaged by the tornadoes. Relief workers and Red Cross servicemen rescue people from the debris.
