United States Army Air Corps Alaska Flight Project begins in Washington DC. YB-10 bomber (tail number 151) takes off from Patterson Field, Ohio, heading for Washington, DC, the official starting point for the operation. United States Army Air Force footage of a helicopter designed by Emile Berliner and Henry Berliner being tested in Washington D.C.,United States. This was one of the final Berliner models built, if not the final, constructed after the triplane model 5 variant that had been demonstrated in February of 1924. This variant had a biplane configuration and was lighter to improve the thrust to weight ratio. The lower wing generated lift from the rotor downwash due to a high angle of incidence and large camber. The helicopter repeatedly lifts off, hovers, does some forward movement, and then touches the ground.

Using a beaker labeled crude oil, a man demonstrates that it yields petroleum products of 30% gasoline, 20% kerosene, and 42% lubrication oil and wax, and 5% coke. Animated diagram shows layers of rock and wells being drilled to various depths to tap oil reservoirs, avoiding water pockets. Another chart shows successive layers of natural gas, oil and salt water that may be encountered. On the surface, the boiler, mud pond, derrick, engine and pump are identified at drilling site. Well casing, drill and movement of drilling products are illustrated.

Naval Operating Base, Hampton Roads, Virginia (renamed U.S. Naval Station Norfolk, in 1945 ). U.S. Navy Commander seated in a chair aboard a ship. A large group of civilian businessmen and officials pose on board a ship with several American Navy officers and one British Naval officer, for a photograph. Some of them stand and some are seated. One civilian stands in front of the group and poses with an American Navy Captain. Change of scene shows Admiral Way on the Navy Base, containing mansions and other structures from the 1907 Jamestown Exposition. It is a very windy day and several civilians are seen on a sidewalk and entering a large building on Admiral Way. Numerous Navy personnel in uniform are seen in the area, including a number of Naval officers entering that building and others heading there along a sidewalk. Residential mansions are seen in the vicinity along Admiral Way.

A tracked vehicle carries a soldier to a facility posting a sign reading, "Alaska Communications System Receiver Station." Several tall antennas loom above the site. The soldier, dressed in arctic gear, steps from the tracked vehicle and walks past several snow shoes, standing upright in the snow, to enter a white wooden building. Inside, a man in civilian clothes works at a battery of telecomunications equipment. He transmits a message about the aircraft sighting, to the Alaska Communication System facility in Fairbanks Alaska (briefly shown) by means of a telegraph key. From there it is relayed to a Signal Corps facility, shown, in Washington, DC. A soldier is seen Inside that facility, in a room filled with computers and telecommunications equipment. A Sergeant handles paper tape messages being sent and received by teletype. Another soldier plugs connections into a communications switchboard. Next, the camera pans over the entrance to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, in the Pentagon. More views of soldiers attending banks of teletype machines. Animated map displays paths of orders being transmitted to U.S. Air Defense Centers in San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle, New York, and Atlanta.
