A U.S. Air force F-100 Super sabre jet aircraft rounds out high in nose-high attitude, during attempted emergency landing at Edwards Air Force Base, California. The pilot applies power to go around without success as the F-100 enters a state known as a "Sabre Dance". The aircraft's right wing strikes the runway and it crashes on the runway in a ball of fire. (Note: This F-100 was being ferried from Palmdale, California, when it encountered problems, and the pilot elected to make an emegency landing at Edwards AFB)

The pilot applies full power, attempting go around, but the aircraft continues in the same uncontrollable condition (known as a "Sabre Dance"). The aircraft yaws to the right and its right wing lowers, striking the runway and causing it to crash in a ball of fire. (Note:The aircraft was being flown by Lieutenant Barty Brooks, of the 1708th Ferrying Wing, Kelly Air Force Base, Texas. He was to ferry it from Palmdale, California. When he experienced inflight difficulties. He attempted an emergency landing at Edwards Air Force Base, where cameras were set up for different purposes, but caught this event on film.)
At the start of an air show in Spokane, Washington, during World War 2, a U.S..Army Air Force Colonel introduces Brigadier General James G. Parker, Commanding General of the 4th Air Force, headquartered in San Francisco. General Parker says a few words of greeting. People applaud. The Colonel then introduces Air Force Brigadier General Dale V. Gaffney, Commanding General of the Alaska Wing, Air Transport Command. He also says a few words. Then, (sound only) the Colonel introduces a Major, from Spokane, who had survived the Bataan Death March and also successfully escaped from a Japanese prison camp.
French Prime Minister Rene Pleven visits New York. Rene Pleven arrives in New York and disembarks from an aircraft. He is greeted by U.S. President Harry S. Truman in Washington DC, with whom he will conduct talks on Atlantic Pact measures.
