He walks in the university computer room where tape decks are seen spinning and computer operators are at work. One of the tapes mounted on a drive is labeled: "Ernest Green, Aspirations." Results from his work are seen coming out of a line printer. Green sits in a library and opens the 1960 yearbook of Central High School containing his and Carlotta Walls 'entries. Melba Pattillo, who left college to marry, is seen in two views.Scene shifts back to Central High and Jefferson Thomas, looking at the athletic trophies on display. He (who is narrating this film) states that he will take an exam in Spring to become a Certified Public Accountant. He walks down steps of Central High and camera pans over neighborhood to the State Capitol dome in distance.

In Arkansas Colony No 1 homes for farmers under construction. A woman outside her home with her young children. Dynamite explosion to make roads and bridges. Horses drag leveling equipment and road graders. Workers selected for relief roles, work for construction. A river bridge under construction. A dirt road is constructed. Large pieces of wooden logs cut by workers at a sawmill. Wooden plates stacked and ready for use in construction of houses and infrastructure. Planing mill and other machinery under operation. After work hours, workers gather around a boxing ring to watch a match. Workers cut a tree with hack saws. Land cleared to build houses. Workers lay wooden plates and raise the house structure on scaffolds. A house constructed up to completion. Men and children walk in a farmland.
American civilians prepare for an air raid drill in Arkansas, United States, during World War 2. Team members report to Air Raid Warden Sam Rankin. Sam receives the Yellow Alert message over phone. He dons his uniform with civil defense armband and goes to work on Blue Alert. Police cars help to get automobiles off the road. People get out of a bus and head to a nearby shelter. Family inside a blackout room listens to radio. Women switchboard operators seen connecting calls in a telephone switchboard room. Burners turned off on gas stove. Sam Rankin reports the Report and Control Center about the bombing. The message is passed to various departments including police and fire departments. Fire engines depart from fire station. Civilian defense nurse, trained by the Red Cross, is seen in a hospital preparing supplies. Her uniform includes on her left arm a civilian defense patch with a red cross in the middle. A man plots damaged areas on a large map. The alarm is sounded and a view of the alarm horn device is seen.
