Manufacturing of gas tanks for automobiles in the United States. Interior of a factory. Workmen operate a machinery. They place sheets of metal in a press. The sheets are bent into elliptical shapes, tanks without ends. A worker installs inlets. The worker welds inlets to the tanks. He installs ends. Another worker hammers down flanges to hold the ends of the tanks. He machine rolls the flanges on the tank ends. The seams on the tanks are welded. A tank tube is placed in a vice, internal partitions are placed and welded into position. The tanks are tested in vats of water for leaks. The fittings for attaching cars are attached to the tanks.
