Opening scene shows Sammy Davis on a stage set up in Hangar deck of the Aircraft Carrier, USS Hancock (CVA-19) during her 7th Vietnam Cruise, in 1972. He speaks about doing impersonations. Sailors in audience are seen in various places on the hangar deck. Some are perched on structural members and hangar equipment. Views o main audience in seats on hangar floor. Davis onstage, speaks of Frank Sinatra, and then sings the song, "All the way," in the style of Nat King Cole (who never recorded it). Members of audience applauding as Davis sings. He continues singing in style of Tony Bennett, Billy Eckstein. At this point, clip continues with audio only, as Davis sings in styles of Frankie Lane and Louis Armstrong, and then impersonates Humphrey Bogart, James cagney, James Stewart, Cary Grant, and W.C. Fields, speaking the lyrics of "All the Way," as they would. He then impersonates Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. Davis then finishes singing the song in his own voice. Audience applauds.

U.S. Army Air Force P-47 aircraft take off from USS Manila Bay, underway off the coast of Saipan, during World War II.

Pacific campaign of World War II in Mariana Islands. Major John Hussey, Commanding Officer of the Army Air Force 73rd Fighter Squadron, 318th Fighter Group briefs his pilots before take off from the Escort Carrier, USS Manila Bay (CVE-61), for their flight to Aslito Field (Isley Field) Saipan. Pilots standing or in kneeling position grouped around the Major as he conducts briefing. Two mechanics as they haul a belly tank out and attach it to the underside of P-47 Thunderbolt aircraft. Naval and Air Force men prepare the planes for take off. Pilots grouped around, talking and smiling. Lt. Joseph J. DeVona stands on wing of his P47D # 31 "Empire Express" while maintenance personnel work on ammunition located in wing. Signal operator for the carrier signaling a P-47 to pull out in position for catapulting. Navy starter gives signal to the pilot for take off. P-47 is moved up into position on catapult, catapult attached to underside of P-47, and plane is readied for catapulting. Navy personnel as they give the various hand signals concerning the movement of plane to fit it into the right position for take off from carrier. Starter as he signals to the pilot and plane is catapulted from the carrier. Lt. Alford Babcock is seen in the cockpit of his P-47 named: "My Baby" as it is catapulted from the carrier. Several other P-47s are seen being catapulted from the Manila Bay. Several flights of P-47s are seen and a large formation of 12 P-47s in flight over water.

Survivors from the USS Hornet, are transferred from the USS Russell to the cruiser USS Northampton during World War II.

Battle of Santa Cruz Islands in the Pacific during World War 2. Survivors from the abandoned aircraft carrier USS Hornet, CV-8, are being transferred, from the port side of the USS Russell, DD-414 (one of the destroyers that rescued them) to the starboard side of the cruiser USS Northampton (CL-26), by means of lines and breeches buoy. After several are transferred, this way, some wounded on litters are also transferred. Initial views are toward the Russell's stern, from the deck of the Northampton, where sailors are handling lines. Camera pans as survivors move across the space between the ships and are lowered to the Northampton deck. View from Northampton toward bow of Russell, showing two of her single turret 8-inch guns (one pointed up) as a litter passes between the ships. (Camera changes viewpoint occasionally.) An officer transfers on a bosun chair, followed by a sailor. In the final seconds, the USS Salt Lake City (CV-25) is seen in the background.
