The Army Quartermaster Corp shows a new solar furnace that captures the suns rays in a 1400 square foot heliostat. Situated at Lake Cochituate, it is capable of generating heat close to that of a nuclear explosion. Officers watch the furnace as it burn through a steel sample. It will be used to test effects of nuclear bombs on various materials, without the logistics and expense of nuclear test firings.

Two helicopters are parked on the airfield ramp. Next, viewed from the aircraft, a marine is seen in free fall. Soon he appears as only a speck , approaching the ground. Next, he is seen, from the ground, as his chute finally opens, and he lands, and begins to spill air from his billowing chute on the ground.
