Views of various boats and ship at New York harbor in Upper New York Bay. Good views of New York skyline and skyscraper buildings near the harbor, as seen from a New York City Police boat. Police officers on the police boat. The boat docks and name on back of boat reads, "Police New York City Lieutenant Ronaghan". A small row boat is then put into the water from the larger police boat, and two men board the small boat and row it towards shore. A gathering of onlookers at the docks as the rowboat comes in. Police officers hoist what appears to be a covered stretcher in the air (possible victim?) and load it into a waiting police van or paddy wagon on the dock.

A film on U.S. Army air-sea rescue operations. A U.S. Army Air Forces B-17 Flying Fortress aircraft in flight over water. Crew at controls of the aircraft. Number 1 engine is feathered. Then, number 4 engine fails and is feathered. View from behind shows the B-17 descending with all four engines feathered. (Some of these scenes probably employed models.) They employ their various survival gear, including Gibson Girl radio with balloon-mounted antenna, signal mirrors, fishing gear, dye marker, and smoke flares. They are spotted by an Army Air-Sea rescue Douglas A-24 aircraft. The aircraft reports their position and a rescue boat is dispatched to their location. They are reached by U.S. Army air sea rescue boat, number P-249 (An 85 foot, wooden, gas- powered boat, built by Eddy Ship Building, Bay City, Michigan). Crewmen are taken aboard and given refreshments.

The event includes a Jubilee of Lights, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Edison's electric light. People holding umbrellas, stand on platform of the Smithcreek Railroad depot, which has been moved to the village. Steam issues from antique locomotive parked on far track. An 1850 steam locomotive decorated with American flags, pulls a 3-car train into the depot, with its bell clanging. Secret Service agents step from the moving train to take up positions on the platform.U.S. President, Herbert Hoover, escorts Thomas Edison, down the steps of the train to the platform. Mrs. Hoover follows, along with Henry Ford, who moves quickly down the steps, as other notable guests also alight. A speaker stand at steps of City Hall is decorated in patriotic bunting and displays pictures of Hoover and Edison, and a sign reading: "Light's Golden Jubilee." Guests remaining at Greenfield village are taken on guided tours in horse-drawn carriages. Many who walk carry umbrellas. Among building seen are: An 1828 toll house and shoe shop;Blacksmith shop; a tintype studio of the 1880s; an 1830s post office and apothecary shop, from Phoenixville, Connecticut; the Clifton Inn, on the village green; a General store, from Waterford, Michigan; the Village Town Hall; and the Martha Mary Chapel. Interior of museum galleries, with guests in formal attire assembled for a candle light banquet, while at the Menlo Park exhibit, Edison, with assistant, Francis Jehl, re-enact the successful demonstration of a carbon filament electric light.
