A large cathedral dominates the opening scene. It seems relatively undamaged although their are destroyed buildings all around it from bombing during World War 2. People are seen carrying their belongings as they flee the area. They pass through narrow corridors between destroyed buildings. View of an orphanage named St. Catharina. View of infants in cribs inside the orphanage. Staff and nurses leading the children out of the building and then loading them aboard a bus. One attendant giving treats to very small infants. Staff waving goodbye to the children and caregivers on the bus, as it departs. Refugees using wagons pulled by cattle to transport them and their belongings. Livestock on the hoof being herded along a road.
Narrator announces the "9th of November in Munich." (It is 1941, early in World War 2.) A gathering of Nazi officials in a church. They are celebrating the anniversary of the Nazi Beer Hall Putsch of November 9, 1923. Next, a large group of Nazi officials are seen conversing in a large hall. Adolf Hitler arrives to the cheers and Nazi salutes of the attendees, as he walks through their midst and spends time greeting and shaking hands with his old comrades from the 1920s. He steps to a podium. Closeup of him at the podium responding to the adulation of the assembly by rendering a bent elbow Nazi salute. The audience is applauding. According to the narrator, Hitler speaks disparagingly about U.S. President Roosevelt and Soviet leader Stalin.
During World War II, scene of a few women with terrible wounds at a German concentration camp near Ramsdorf after being liberated. Physicians attend to the atrocity victims. View of children who managed to survive at Auschwitz camp even after losing their families. The children show their tattoos on their hands that are marks for their identification. Two men who were survivors, one man whose eyes were gouged out by his captors. Men behind barbed wires. Inmate victims who could not walk or crawl being helped by soldiers. Nude men who were starved stand in a group at Ebensee Concentration Camp. Man helps a starved, emaciated man to walk. A man crawls. Bodies of prisoners who died without getting medical aid. Officials beside the bodies. Scenes are from a variety of camps including Ramsdorf, Auschwitz, Aschaffenburg, Bergen-Belsen, and some others that are not clear from the narration.
Adolf Hitler has tea, at Christmas time, with children, in the Mooslahnerkopf tea house, near his home, the Berghof, in Obersalzberg, Berchtesgaden, Bavaria. Children, Nazi German officers and women around a Christmas tree decorated with ribbons and real flaming candles. Women open presents. Hitler helps the children write on a slate. During World War 2.
A man secures a large steamer trunk. Two men place the trunk and a duffel bag onto a truck. Eva Braun, Adolf Hitler's companion, on tarmac of airport and greets friends and family. She along with others boards a Condor four engine transport aircraft. ( FW 200A-0-S8 named the "Grenzmark"). Those aboard include her mother and father and sister. Aerial views are seen through the aircraft cabin windows.
