Fritz Von Opel flies his Opel-Sander RAK 1 rocket propelled air plane. Fritz Von Opel sits in the cockpit of the Opel RAK 1 plane. Repeated trials fail to lift the plane. Finally the plane rises in air. Smoke trailing the Opel RAK 1 plane as it flies. Given the date, this might be a RAK 3, even though the RAK 1 designation is seen on the plane.
United States soldiers on alert in Michelbach, Alsace, France during World War 1. The soldiers, at the ready, with weapons in hand are in well established trenches reinforced with woven slender tree limbs and sand bags. They are in a forest with what appears to be a footbridge in the background. Troops aim their weapons.
B-24 aircraft in formation over German target. Sky filled with Flak bursts. Recreated views show aircrew on oxygen at altitude in their respective crew stations inside a B-24. Some scenes, showing gunners firing at a German fighter aircraft, are actually filmed from inside a B-17 (and show B-17 empennage, as viewed from waist gunner position, looking aft). While under attack, one German pilot drops his landing gear to slow down and bails out. Bombs dropping from aircraft and exploding on the German factory at Gotha. Narrator notes that the U.S 392nd and 445th Bomb Groups were decorated for this successful raid. (World War II period).
Two Truckloads of Prussian soldiers drive into the Rhineland city of Koblenz to reinforce it during World War 1. They park near a shuttered Merchant hall and climb down to the street. They assemble and pose for the camera standing around a machine gun set up on the pavement. Scene shifts to view of an old fort partially destroyed.
