Competitor wearing number 1 on his jersey, takes early lead and holds it to the end. Photographers capture him crossing the finish line. He walks cooling down and waves to fans in the stands before the rest of the runners arrive at the finish line. Spectators are well dressed and crowd into the protected grandstand section of the stadium. Most of the remainder of the stadium is empty. Some rain falls. Some people hold umbrellas.

Note: The U.S. Air Force General wears an "Ike" jacket, while the officers accompanying him all wear the class A "blouse" jacket.
Groups of student pilots are briefed by instructors at a French Air Force training base in Marrakesh, Morocco. Wearing seat-pack parachutes, student pilots climb into the cockpits of North American T-6 aircraft, bearing French markings, as ground crews hook up auxiliary power units and turn over the aircraft engines. The T-6s taxi out to the active runway. The T-6s are seen taxiing back to their respective parking places on the airfield.
