Maury Wills and Willie Mays star as National League wins Baseball's 1962 All-Star Game in Washington

Newsreel clip on baseball's 1962 All-Star Game in Washington -- the first of two played that year. View of new D.C. Stadium packed to capacity for the game. A woman wearing a hat with '1962 All Star Game' written on it. U.S. President John F. Kennedy, a known baseball fan, throws out the ceremonial first pitch. Game begins, scoreless for five innings. In the sixth, Hall of Famer Stan Musial hits a single to right field. Maury Wills comes in to run for him, steals second, then scores on a hit by the Pittsburgh Pirates' Dick Groat. President Kennedy and officials seated near him cheer. Groat scores on an infield hit. Racially mixed crowd watches the action. Billy Moran and Rich Rollins of the American League get hits, then Roger Maris of the Yankees hits a long blast to deep center field -- but Willie Mays catches it against the center field wall. Kennedy, wearing sunglasses and smiling, munches on some peanuts. In the seventh, Wills gets on base, advances from first to third on a single, and scores sliding into home on a fly ball in foul territory. Announcer notes Kennedy stayed until the end of the game. Mays catches the final out in center field. The National League wins the game 3-1.

Air Sea Rescue readiness and routine operations of 1389th Air Force Base Unit at Kindley Field, Bermuda

Activities in Bermuda of USAF Air Transport Command, Atlantic Division units. An air-sea rescue boat is secured under the fuselage of a USAF SB-17G Flying Fortress aircraft, of the 7th Air Rescue Squadron, at Kindley Field. "ASR 578" is painted on the B-17 fuselage. Air-sea rescue equipment displayed on a ramp, including rations, Gibson girl hand-cranked emergency radio, signal flares and smoke, etc. Very pistols and emergency rockets are also shown. Several kits of such emergency equipment with parachutes, ready for air drop. Scene changes to routine USAFoperations at the base. A USAF technical Sergeant enters information about a C-54 aircraft on the Kindley Field blackboard log of transient aircraft. Several other entries already appear on the blackboard. An Air Force Captain marks up a flight control tag for a transient aircraft..

A Unites States Navy PBM-3 Mariner aircraft takes off from the waters of the U.S.Naval Operating Base, Bermuda

A tractor tug eases a U.S. Navy PBM-3 Mariner flying boat down a ramp into water at the U.S. Navy Operating Base, Bermuda. View as the PBM heads toward the camera on a rocket assisted takeoff (RATO). As the rockets ignite, the PBM accelerates and takes off at a high angle of attack leaving a trail of white smoke behind. The rockets burn out and the aircraft levels at about two thousand feet, continuing on its way.

Several WB-29A Weather Reconnaissance aircraft of the 53rd Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron (Hurricane Hunters). Their unique sampling fixture is seen atop their fuselages. These are stationed at Kindley Air Force Base, Bermuda. The unit belongs to the Air Weather Service of the Military Air Transport Service (MATS). Aside from the aircraft, a few of their Squadron facilities are seen on the ramp.
