The rocket powered missile takes off leaving a trail of smoke. The missile in flight. An official observes the missile in air. A military ambulance and truck at the launch site.
The National Ski Jump Championships in Steamboat Springs Colorado. Women on skis parade. A band on skis. Spectators watch as the competitors begin the jumps on the nation's steepest slopes. A blizzard on the second day makes it difficult for the jumpers. Various competitors fall from the slopes during unsuccessful jump attempts. Art Tokle from Chicago becomes America's champion jumper with a leap of 295 feet.
The Scandinavian Clubs of New York choose Christine Jorgensen "Woman of the Year" in New York City. Christine Jorgensen, a transgender woman, accepts the award from a Club official. She addresses the gathering and thanks her doctors and her friends who she says are responsible for her success.
Young boxers of New York Boy's Clubs participate in exhibition boxing matches at Madison Square Boys Club. A man supervises as the boys are weighed. They weigh in around 50 pounds. City road signs identifying many of those cities are also seen.
