Children gather to compete at the National Marbles Tournament in Wildwood to find out who is the mightiest mibster, or marble player. Several hexagonal shaped mats are laid on floor. Mummers celebrate New Year's Day in Philadelphia Gala Parade.

Thousands of mummers parade the streets of Philadelphia on New Year's day. Revelers dressed in amusingly elaborate costumes exhibit a sparkling show. Various decorative displays and movable scenery can also be seen. People gather in number across streets and witness the colorful event. Some men dressed as women (in drag). A costumed pair are announced with a banner that reads 'Marie Antoinette...Louis XVI' while another vignette in which crude dentistry is mimed is identified by a sign on a car that reads, 'Duke and Duchess of Winsores Arrive for Big Yank' Many performers are seen in blackface.
