View of a pedestal-mounted French 155mm long gun, in a well-fortified position during World War 1. The emplacement is protected all around with rows of sand bags. It is deep enough that the gun is not visible until raised to fire (and then only the barrel is visible). The French Army artillery gun crew loads the gun and the soldiers fire two rounds. The area around the emplacement is a desolate no-man's land.
