In next shot, from 1939, the ship is underway and arriving at New York Harbor on September 30, 1939, carrying 1837 persons, its largest passenger count ever. (Note: The race was expected to feature the much-anticipated meeting of Seabiscuit and War Admiral, but Seabiscuit is scratched due to an injury just minutes before the race is scheduled to take place, much to the dismay of the record crowd that had gathered. War Admiral finished fourth in this race. This would help set the stage for the famed match race between the two champions that is ultimately held at Pimlico in Baltimore, MD later that year.)
