French freighter Magellan, with "Merci America" painted on her sides, arrives at New York Harbor. It carries a train of 49 French railroad box cars filled with tens of thousands of gifts of gratitude sent by the people of France. Government officials greet each other. A railroad box car is lowered on the dock area from the ship. A sign on the box car : 'Homme 40, Chevaux (enlong) 8'.
