U.S. Army Lieutenant General Patton comes onto a shore in a landing craft in Sicily, Italy during World War II.

Allied invasion of Sicily, Italy during World War II. U.S. Army Lieutenant General George S. Patton, Commander of the U.S. Seventh Army, along with a soldier aboard a troop ship. Soldiers mark a sheet. Lt. Gen. Patton with a cigar in his mouth as he goes over the side of the ship. He climbs down a rope net into a landing craft. Lt. Gen. Patton seated aboard the landing craft, accompanied by several armed soldiers and officers, including a Brigadier General, as it approaches a beach in the Gulf of Gela, South-Central Sicily. A captain and soldier help Lt. General Patton to get off the landing craft. Patton and officers, including the Brigadier General who accompanied him on the landing craft, stand together on the beach. Patton and the Brigadier General both wear 1st Armored Division patches on their uniforms. General Patton stands watching as army vehicles including trucks,halftracks,jeeps, and heavy armor, offload from Landing ships. He is annotating a map or buildings along Lexington Avenue in Manhattan. Next, the student is seen presenting information about this matter and engaging in a discussion about it with classmates. Later, a student spokesman is seen presenting findings about housing inadaquacies to an assembly of people. Local people demonstrate in the streets, carrying banners decrying current conditions. Scene shifts to new housing projects with playgrounds and seemingly better conditions for the residents. Children are seen running in Central Park.
