Christmastime celebrations in Upper Darby (bordering West Philadelphia). A 60-foot high statue of Santa Claus (Kris Kringle), is set up on 69th Street. Children dance in a circle around it and snake in and out of adjacent building. Some children are seen having pony rides in the midst of the activity. A line of students walk past and shake hands with a person in Santa costume, as adults watch from nearby. A group of younger children mob Santa, who takes it all in stride. Small children receiving gifts from Santa in his hut. Santa holds and shows a toy train to a very small child in his arms, who simply cries. The same thing happens when he tries to give a toy bear to another very small child.
