Tsingtao (Qingdao) Shantung Province, China. Camera pans over a hilltop with foliage and several buildings, near the U.S. Navy Air Base at Tsingtao (Qingdao) Shantung Province, China. It focuses on several sailors standing near a completely destroyed Navy R5D (Douglas DC-4) aircraft. The outer wings are missing and its four engines have been removed. While panning the wreckage, the camera picks up part of a tail number reading:" 80395." To the right, another aircraft fuselage is seen. Strips of aluminum are missing from it. It also appears to be a Navy R5D. A view of the cockpit shows the two control yokes missing from their pedestals. (Apparently salvageable parts have been removed from these crashed aircraft by Navy personnel.)

United States military officers greet Generalissimo and Madame Chiang Kai-shek (Soong Mei-ling) as they arrive to visit the USS Landing Ship Tank 1050 (LST-1050) docked at a pier in China. U.S. Army Lieutenant General Albert C. Wedemeyer and Navy Admiral Charles M. Cooke, greet them at the foot of a gangway to the ship. Admiral Cooke follows as they climb to the ship. A Chinese sailor salutes them and an entourage of Chinese military officers, as they board. A U.S. Navy Commander escorts them as they inspect a contingent of U.S. sailors in formation on deck. U.S. Army General George Marshall arrives in Shanghai, China. A C-54 plane taxis on Kiangwan Airport. Troops lined up in the foreground. Spectators present and MPs (Military Police) hold them back. Generals Marshall and Albert Coady Wedemeyer review guard of honor. General Marshall is introduced to various Chinese officers including Minister of War General Ho Yin-Chin, Mayor of Shanghai General Chien Ta-Chun. Chinese troops are served coffee and dough nuts by the Red Cross. Chinese troops eat. A file of Chinese troops marches off.
