Army officers and city officials wait outside the building on the steps.A few officers come down the steps and wait. General Charles De Gaulle comes out of City Hall accompanied by Mayor LaGuardia.. The General stands on top of the steps and raises his arms in a giant "V" to the crowd. The Mayor then guides him to a bank of microphones set up at the base of the steps. Mayor LaGuardia makes a few remarks and concludes raising his right arm and shouting: "Vive la France." General de Gaulle, then speaks into the microphones. The Mayor and the General shake hands.

Billy Sunday's Tabernacle at Broadway and 106th Street, in Manhattan, New York City, is seen in opening shots of film. Next to it is a YMCA cafeteria, Some cars are parked on the street and some pedestrians stroll along the sidewalk. Scene shifts to inside the Tabernacle, that seems filled to capacity. (It could seat 18 thousand persons.) Camera pans over the crowd. On a stage, Billy Sunday stands next to a desk and removes his tie. Displayed on the wall behind him is a huge patriotic circular bunting. Some men and women also occupy the stage with him. Next, Sunday is seen standing on the desk emotionally haranguing the audience with a fundamentalist Christian sermon. Change of scene to closeup of John Philip Sousa conducting an open air band concert, attended by a vast audience. Closeup of Harry Lauder, famous Scottish singer and comedian. Next, Scottish bandsmen in uniforms, including fur busby hats, crowd onto a raised platform in a park. A sign on the platform refers to B.F. Keith's and the Red Cross. Next, bandsmen are gone and the platform contains seated guests, including a British Army officer and several civilian officials. Harry Lauder is speaking to a crowd of mostly men, from the platform. Scene shifts to closeup of famous French actress, Sarah Bernhardt, seated next to a man in an open car. A huge patriotic bunting is hung in the background. A large crowd fills a park. Some wave American flags. Camera moves back revealing the setting with Bernhardt standing in the car speaking. The bunting is seen to decorate a raised speaker's platform. Her car, which displays the French tricolor flag, is surrounded by spectators. Photographers in foreground stand to take her picture.

Opening scene shows French Nieuport biplanes in aerial combat with German airplanes in World War 1. Many are engaged in a massive dogfight. One aircraft is seen hit and falling toward the ground. Next, two French aircraft are seen returning to their base. They fly over a hangar where a crashed airplane sits with tail in the air. Near the hanger are several airplanes in various stages of maintenance. Mechanics are moving one. An airplane taxis in front of the hangar. Scene shifts to closeup of a Lafayette Escadrille Indian logo painted on a metal structure. Scene shifts to a formal award ceremony for some pilots and crews. Their squadron members are lined up behind them in front of a line of aircraft. The view is from behind a formation of French soldiers with rifles, rendering salutes. Next, French soldiers parade on the airdrome, led by a military band. At this point the scene phases out as a fireball is superimposed on a map of Europe, signifying World War 2. Adolf Hitler is seen in closeup near the Eiffel Tower, when he visits Paris, France following its occupation by German forces in 1940. Several views of German troops marching along the Avenue des Champs-Élysées and through the Arc de Triomphe. Closeups of some German soldiers in the ranks. Scene shifts to North Africa, in 1942, as American troops make an unopposed amphibious landing on the coast, in Operation Torch. Several landing craft are seen and troops ashore. A Dodge 3/4 ton WC-51 army truck, with half of its hood open, makes its way through the surf as it leaves a landing craft.
