View of captured Japanese submarine I-401 during Operation Road's End. The boat is sunk as a target off Barber's Point, Oahu, Hawaii, on 31 May 1946. Closeup view of the I-401. Next, it is seen at some distance from the U.S. submarine, USS Trumpetfish (SS-425), as it moves away from the I-401. The Trumpetfish (unseen) fires two torpedoes, in succession, as it proceeds. The first strikes the I-401 just aft of the conning tower. A little later, the second strikes amidships. The I-401 is seen sinking, stern first.

Spanish Submarines being constructed and operating during World War II

Film opens panning across buildings in a Spanish harbor and shipyard. A submarine is seen under construction in the shipyard. Workers clamber over scaffolding and wooden framework as they assemble parts of the boat. Closeup of some heavy steel framework. Riveters at work. A mechanic adjusting gear machanism. View from below, of partially built submarine. Painters at work on hull. Scene switches to a Spanish Naval officer in a classroom, discussing naval tactics with use of models. Four naval officers listen as he lectures. Students use a device that gives them simulated view through a submarine periscope. Camera captures the images seen by the students. A submarine, displaying letters "GS" on its superstructure, moves away from the dock, with crew working on deck and Captain standing in conning tower platform. As it clears the dock, the name: "General Sanjurjo" is seen on its bow. (This boat was formerly the Italian "Torricelli.") View shifts to another submarine moving at fairly high speed as it departs the harbor with its crew standing in formations on its deck. This boat displays "GM" on its superstructure. (It is the "General Mola," formerly, the Italian "Archimede.")

Scenes of the captured German submarine U-505, as it arrives in Chicago, Illionois enroute to the Museum of Science and Industry. Officials and guests, board the U-505 from a small boat as it proceeds under tow. Among those boarding are Admiral Gallery, who, as a Captain, commanded the task force that captured the U-505 in 1944, The Admiral waves from the conning tower of the submarine. He is seen with three civilians (possibly members of the original boarding party). The submarine docks with many celebrants on board.
