Sikorsky takes off in his VS-300 helicopter attempting to set a new world's endurance record for sustained flight. At one point during the flight, Robert Mackellar III, an employee, in white lab coat, holds up a sign reading "Worlds Record BROKEN, 1 hour 20 mts, as the helicopter continues to hover, breaking the record of 1 hour, 20 minutes and 40 seconds, set in 1937 by Heinrich Focke in Germany. Judges check their watches to confirm the airborne time of the helicopter. The Vought-Sikorsky VS-300 helicopter sets a new record of 1 hour and 32 minutes sustained flight.

U.S. Army 817th Army engineers build airfield within 24 hours near Salerno, Italy, in World War II. Members of the U.S. Army 817th Engineers Battalion are seen employing construction equipment to create a new emergency airfield near Salerno, Italy, during World War 2. A bulldozer uproots trees separating a tomato patch from a wheat field so both can be combined to create a larger space for an emergency airfield. A road grader passes a soldier seated in a piece of parked construction equipment, as it levels the ground. The operator in the parked equipment takes a drink from his canteen. Next, soldiers are seen wielding picks, and other hand tools to untangle clumps of earth and roots. Camera shows them next, working at the edge of the large cleared earthen airfield. They pause to wave to a P-38 lightning aircraft that has just landed at the new field. The P-38 passes on its landing roll, raising a cloud of dust. (Note: Moments after the end of the clip, this, first to land, P-38 had a fatal collision with a water truck, concealed in dust at the side of the runway.

Japanese officers on horseback move through the crowded street between rows of local people celebrating the new Government. .People move in procession waving Japanese flags. Several men stroll along a path in the park, on a warm day, in Harbin china. A pavilion is seen, decorated with small flags of many nations, including, among others: Japan; Turkey; the United states; Egypt; Greece; and Great Britain. (Although the United States and most other nations did not ever formally recognize the independent State of Manchukuo, the U.S. and others maintained consulates in Harbin and had a number of their citizens residing there.) Attendees walk to seats in an open theater in the park. It contains seats and benches. A formation of Japanese bi-wing bombers flies overhead. Tables for Manchukuo officials and special guests are on a raised platform. The backdrop is decorated with two crossed flags of the new Manchukuo, flanking a picture of its new leader, Manchurian former emperor of China, Aisin-Gioro Pu-Yi, also known as "Henry Pu-Yi" (or Puyi). The event proceeds with speeches and applause from the attendees. Two large Manchukuo flags are stretched out from the gateway of the park. A tram (street car) passes along tracks and powered by overhead electric wires. The tram is decorated with numerous small flags.
