Helicopter lands on ground at Quonset Point in United States. President Eisenhower and his wife disembark the helicopter along with naval aide and other officers. Eisenhower removes his hat and is greeted by a naval officer. Eisenhower and party walk towards the Presidential plane Columbine. They walk up the ramp of the plane. The doorway is closed and the ramp is pushed away. Columbine in the parking area prepares for the take off. Crew pulls cable from the aircraft. Three naval Officers stand by. Navy plane director guides the plane. Columbine taxies for take off.
Aviator Charles Lindbergh takes off on solo transatlantic flight from Roosevelt Field in New York. Charles Lindbergh poses with his mother in front of his plane 'Spirit of Saint Louis'. Charles Lindbergh then dons heavier flying suit and boards the plane. The "Spirit of St. Louis" hits a few bumps on takeoff roll and then gradually completes a shallow takeoff.
Remains of the Lockheed XP-38 that crashed at Mitchel Field, New York, the day before, after a cross-continental flight from March Field, California. The airplane was flown by Lieutenant Ben Kelsey, who escaped without injury. But the airplane was totally destroyed.
